Während EtOH und H2O jeweils schlechte Lösungsmittel für diesen Prozess sind, ergeben EtOH/H2O-Mischungen geeigneter Zusammensetzung (voraussagbar anhand der Hansen-Löslichkeitsparameter) eine effiziente Exfoliation (siehe Bild) unter Bildung hochstabiler Suspensionen.
