Title: Are the patient-centred and biopsychosocial approaches compatible?
Abstract: This chapter addresses the question of whether patient-centred and biopsychosocial approaches are compatible. It first outlines the patient-centred approaches, before considering whether this affects outcome, and explores why the biopsychosocial approach is not used more widely. It considers if particular individual interviewing skills should be encouraged independently of their overall models.
