Abstract: Abstract Bayes factors are the primary tool used in Bayesian inference for hypothesis testing and model selection. They also are used by non‐Bayesians in the construction of test statistics. For instance, in the testing of simple hypotheses, the Bayes factor equals the ordinary likelihood ratio. Bayesian Model Selection discusses the use of Bayes factors in model selection. Statistical Evidence discusses the general use of Bayes factors in quantifying statistical evidence. We argue that: Science needs to abandon p‐values and adopt Bayes factors.
