Abstract: A body in motion is said to possess kinetic energy. The kinetic energy is the amount of work which the body is capable of doing and may be of two types (1) kinetic energy of translation (of linear kinetic energy), which is the kinetic energy associated with the body's linear velocity υ ; (2) kinetic energy of rotation, which is the kinetic energy associated with the body's angular velocity ω.
