Title: Synthesis of an overall boiler-turbine control systems by a single-loop auto-tuning technique
Abstract: The synthesis of the control system of an overall boiler-turbine process represents a non-trivial design problem. Significant improvements may be achieved, both in terms of efficiency and plant availability, if control functions are well organized. Complex control system architectures may be conceived, but they exhibit the drawback of a complex set-up. In the paper it is shown that a single-loop auto-tuning technique may be successfully adopted for the design of the overall control system. A prototype CAD/CAE environment has been developed to support the control design, from scheme editing to software production, with built-in tools both for synthesis and for analysis of results. General expert rules are obtained and commented upon.
