Abstract: Narrative identity is a subjective recollection of the personal past, which serves to integrate alife. Narrative identity emerges in adolescence, with clear pre‐cursors in childhood, and withconsequence for mental health and well‐being in adolescence and adulthood. This entryreviews the theoretical foundation of the field, major dimensions of narrative identity, itsdevelopment, and current and future research.
