Estridge and Arthi Jayaraman use molecular simulations to describe the effect of homopolymer matrix chemistry on the shapes and conformations of diblock copolymer grafted particles and the potential of mean force between these grafted particles within the homopolymer matrix. When the matrix chemistry matches the inner graft block chemistry, the particles take on patchy configurations with the outer block aggregating to form patches. When the matrix chemistry matches the outer graft block chemistry, the grafted particles take on core-corona conformations with the inner block forming the core and the outer block extending into the matrix creating the corona.
