Title: Radical anion formation in the electrochemical reduction in aprotic media of furan substituted chalcones
Abstract: By means of periodically changed square-ware voltage (Kalousek commutator) at a DME or by means of e.p.r. spectra after generation at a mercury-pool electrode the electrochemical formation of radical anions has been proved in furan substituted chalcones. A necessary condition of a sufficient stability of this primary intermediate is a completely aprotic solvent. A striking difference between the radical stability in supporting electrolytes containing lithium or tetrabutylammonium cations has been described. The e.p.r. signal can be obtained only if a corresponding anodic wave results with the Kalousek commutator.
