Abstract: The plant hormone gibberellin (GA) participates in many physiological processes. However, little is known about the role of GA in responses to nutrient deficiency in general and iron deficiency in particular.Wang et al. demonstrate that GA negatively regulates iron-deficiency-responses in rice.Exogenous application of GA exaggerated foliar chlorosis and reduced growth of wild-type plants, while an enhanced endogenous GA level in the rice mutant (eui1) was associated with reduced foliar iron concentrations.Exposure of wild-type rice plants to an irondeficient medium led to a reduction in endogenous GA concentration.
