Abstract: This entry provides an overview of the main propositions postulated by empiricism. It presents the contributions of the three main empiricists, David Hume, John Locke, and George Berkeley. It further makes reference to the difference between empiricism and realism, presents a critique on empiricism, and describes evidence‐based thinking as a contemporary setting in which empiricism has found support.
