Garvey et al's1 article has been cited in our paper. We also agree that Dr. Jean-Yves Maigne and colleagues were the first to describe and present photographic evidence of a superior cluneal nerve entrapment syndrome. However, our study focused on regional quantitative anatomic data of the medial branch of the superior cluneal nerve and the site of the osteofibrous tunnel.2 In their papers4,5 published in 1989 and 1991 the photographic evidence of the osteofibrous tunnel was not shown. We realize that the authors recently have published a paper related to the results of surgical neurolysis for the medial superior cluneal nerve entrapment. However, before their paper was published,3 our paper had been sent to Clinical Orthopaedics for publication. We believe their paper provides evidence of the existence of this medial branch compression. Finally, our study not only confirms their findings but also provides quantitative information about the location of the osteofibrous tunnel and clinical relevance of this tunnel to the bone graft harvesting from the posterior iliac crest region. In our manuscript we mentioned Maigne's and Doursounian's study four times. The statements "the regional anatomy of the superior cluneal nerve has not been well documented in the literature" and "the actual lesion of an entrapment neuropathy of this nerve has not been identified" in our paper2 were meant that our study would be concentrated on the location of the osteofibrous tunnel and its content to enhance our understanding of this nerve entrapment.
