Abstract: The performance of the combined cycle plant is a function of the Brayton and Rankine Cycles. The Gas Turbine operates under the Brayton Cycle, and the Steam Turbine operates under the Rankine Cycle. The heat rejected by the Brayton Cycle in an isobaric process is the energy, which is used in the Rankine Cycle to produce the steam. Both cycles accept and reject heat in an isobaric process.
