Abstract: Language aptitude is the set of talents that underlie one's ability to learn an additional language quickly in instructed settings. Aptitude tests are used to measure those talents. After defining aptitude and providing information on several aptitude tests available today (who created them, when they were created, why they were created, and how individuals can access them, if they can be accessed), the entry outlines (a) recent updates on research into the aptitude‐treatment‐interaction hypothesis (Cronbach & Snow, 1997; Robinson, 2007), and (b) pedagogical implications. Teachers are encouraged to instruct students in ways that have been proven to eradicate aptitude's effects on learning. Teachers are also recommended to monitor low‐aptitude students to maximize their success.
