Abstract: Inference of population history using summary statisticsRecent development of sequencing technology made it possible to collect huge amount of DNA data. These data are useful and it is necessary to develop methods to analyze them efficiently. For the inference of population history, some approaches have already been developed, but still, there is no definitive method because they take much time or do not tell us details of population history. In this research, to infer population history, we considered a simple method that makes use of the difference in the behavior of combined summary statistics calculated from a large amount of DNA data.We conducted simulation-based research under several population divergence models.Given fixed withinpopulation-π and F ST , some combinations of summary statistics showed different distribution among different divergence models. Therefore, each divergence model can be identified from the unique pattern of summary statistics, at least in some parameter range. This indicates that it would be possible to understand population history by analyzing appropriate combinations of summary statistics.
