Abstract: This study presents a new fifteen-level enhanced boost active-neutral-point-clamped topology (named as 15L-EBANPC) inverter. Using sixteen switches and three floating capacitors, output voltage with fifteen levels is achieved. Unlike the conventional ANPC inverter that provides the voltage gain of 0.5, the proposed EBANPC inverter boosts the voltage and provides the voltage gain of 3.5 by charging floating capacitors to the DC link voltage. In each cycle, all floating capacitors are connected in parallel to the DC link and realize self-balancing capability. The proposed topology and its operation are discussed in detail, and a comparative analysis is provided to show the merits of the introduced topology. Simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink environment are presented to validate the performance of the proposed topology.
