Title: AI Judges and Constitutions: ‘Tattered Fragments of the Map’ An invited Paper to the International Association of Constitutional Law IACL Round Table on the Impact of Digitalization on Constitutional Law
Abstract: A critical examination of the resurgence of Artificial Intelligence in the courts generally, and in the context of constitutional courts in particular. Reviewing two recent accounts of how AI may be used in the Courtroom to potentially replace human judges, the paper argues that the essentially social and political nature of 'judging' makes such an endeavour doomed to failure.
