This paper aims to investigate the behaviour of time-independent non-Newtonian fluids in a two-degree of freedom wedge impact problem using a numerical Lagrangian in-house code which is based on the weakly compressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics method. The code is validated and then, wedge impact on various non-Newtonian fluids is simulated. The results show that in general, the vertical force exerted on the wedge by the non-Newtonian dilatant and Herschel-Bulkley fluids is bigger than Newtonian and other non-Newtonian fluids. The percentage increase in the maximum vertical force when non-Newtonian fluids instead of Newtonian fluids are used is greater in the case of the lighter wedge versus the heavier one. Also, there is no formation of the fluid jet in the dilatant fluids.Read More
