Title: The numerical analysis of the sloshing tank with baffles at the high amplitude of vertical oscillation using OpenFOAM
Abstract: The present numerical study highlighted the sloshing of partially filled tank at high amplitude of vertical oscillation. The multiphase fluid with liquid and gaseous phase is solved in the finite volume context and the interface phenomena of liquid-gas is captured with the Volume of Fluid method (VoF). The open source CFD tool OpenFOAM is used to perform the numerical analysis for the present study. The sloshing dynamics in the tank is compared with various configurations with numbers of attached baffles. The spilling out of liquid with various positions of baffles in the tanks is compared. Based on the amount of liquid left in the tank after a particular decisive time the optimum design of tank with baffles is proposed.
