Title: Inter Granular Corrosion Properties of the Cobalt Base Alloy Stellite No.6
Abstract: The arc welding are apt to dilute Stellite No.6 compositions and lower the qualities of this alloys. This study is carried out to determine the maximum allowable iron content and the proper heat treatment conditions to maintain the good performances of this alloy. IGC properties are examined by the Strauss tests by the test materials contained iron from 0.9 to 62%. The dilutions with iron accelerate IGC susceptibility of Stellite. It is advisable to limit the iron contents less than 15% and to increase the heat treatment temperatures up to 1023K to maintain the good corrosion, erosion and wear resistances of this alloy.
