Abstract: Abstract This article provides an overview of the characteristics of various antennas used in the RF/microwave region. A brief history of antennas is presented. Starting from simple wire antennas, the article goes on to describe reflector antennas, lens antennas, horn antennas, frequency‐independent antennas, conformal antennas, and reconfigurable antennas. The salient properties of each of these antennas are presented and discussed.
