Abstract: Vorwort 9,8 % der deutschen Bevölkerung leiden unter der Krankheit Diabetes.Der Großteil der Betroffenen ist dem Diabetes-Typ 2 zuzuordnen, weniger als 0,3 % der Menschen in Deutschland leiden an einem Diabetes-Typ 1. Während dem Diabetes-Typ 1 eine irreversible Störung der Insulinsekretion in der Bauchspeicheldrüse zugrunde liegt und er insofern eine chronische Erkrankung darstellt, entsteht der Diabetes-Typ 2 meist im Rahmen von Übergewicht und Adipositas, die mit verschiedenen Defekten bei der Insulinsekretion ineinandergreifen.Der Typ-2-Diabetes gilt als in den meisten Fällen vermeidbar und oft auch als reversibel, sofern eine Gewichtsabnahme erreicht wird, bzw.eine Lebensstiländerung erfolgt.Sowohl beim Typ-1-Diabetes wie beim Typ-2-Diabetes sind die Essverhaltensweisen und -gewohnheiten mit der Therapie des Diabetes abzustimmen.Die Menge an aufgenommenen Kohlenhydraten bestimmt maßgeblich die Anzahl von zu spritzenden Insulineinheiten.Bei Übergewicht oder Adipositas ist eine Gewichtsabnahme unbedingt empfehlenswert.Essverhalten und Ernährung sind die Themen, die Menschen mit Diabetes beständig begleiten.Bei der Diabetesbehandlung fällt dem Erkrankten im Wesentlichen die Behandlung seiner Krankheit zu.99 % seiner Therapieentscheidungen muss er selbst treffen.Dies fällt psychisch gesunden Diabetespatienten schon oft nicht leicht, psychisch erkrankten Diabetespatienten gelingt dies oft nicht oder nur sehr schwer.Die Blutzuckereinstellungen sind dann nicht normgerecht und es drohen mittel-bis langfristige Folgeerkrankungen des Diabetes durch Schädigungen der Nerven und Blutgefäße, die bis zu Dialyse, Erblindung, Amputationen und frühen Tod reichen können.Eine aktuelle Metaanalyse zeigt, dass Essstörungen mit 2,8 % unter Typ-1-Diabetespatienten deutlich gehäuft im Vergleich mit gesunden Gleichaltrigen auftreten und meist nachweislich mit einer schlechteren Blutzuckereinstellung einhergehen.Sie erleiden früher und mit deutlich größerer
