Abstract: Research efforts in fusion breeder neutronics have been focused on two tasks that are strongly related. Efforts in Task 1 concentrate on examining the required conditions to sustain fuel self-sufficiency in fusion reactors operated on a D-T fuel cycle. In this respect, in-depth and detailed engineering analyses have been performed on various blanket and reactor concepts to verify the potential of each blanket concept to exhibit a tritium breeding ratio (TBR) in excess of unity by a margin that compensates for losses, radioactive decay and other inventory requirements. Efforts in Task 2 concentrate on evaluating the overall uncertainties (both experimental and analytical) associated with the TBR.
