Title: Adjectival Modification and Multiple Determiners
Abstract: One surprising characteristic of Greek definite DPs is that multiple occurrences of the same definite determiner in the same noun phrase are possible. This is illustrated in (2), where each adjective is accompanied by its own determiner. The pre-adjective determiner is optional for pre-nominal A's (cf. (1a) and (2a)), but obligatory for post-nominal A's: (2b) vs. (1b). The phenomenon exemplified in (2) has been labelled by Androutsopoulou (1995) Determiner Spreading (DS).
