Title: Study estimating VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions from the Calumet Sewage Treatment Plant in the Chicago area
Abstract: The emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from Publicly Owned Sewage Treatment Works (POTWs) might pose an air-pollution hazard, because many VOCs are known to create a human health hazard with continuous exposure. This study estimated the annual emission rates of individual and total VOCs from the Calumet Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), which is one of the treatment works of the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago (MSDGC) most likely to emit significant amounts of VOCs.
