Title: IMAGING | Structure and Function: Imaging Connectivity Using Tractography
Abstract: Diffusion based imaging is an advanced MRI technique sensitive to the molecular displacement of water molecules, providing information on the microstructural arrangement of tissues. Diffusion tensor tractography (DTT), an extension of diffusion based imaging, can provide additional information about white matter pathways. DTT requires careful execution and interpretation but promises – in combination with other imaging modalities, electrophysiological techniques, and clinical data – to increase our understanding of the effects of epilepsy on the structural organization of the brain. Furthermore, this information can also be used to optimize the presurgical planning of patients with epilepsy.
