Title: Role of Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase in G-Protein Action
Abstract: Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDP kinase, EC 2.7.4.6.) is a ubiquitous enzyme which catalyzes a transfer of the terminal phosphate of 5′-triphosphate nucleotides to 5′-diphosphate nucleotides (Parks and Agarwal 1973). Under physiological conditions, NDP kinase works to form triphosphate nucleotide pools at the expense of ATP. The products of the enzyme reaction are widely utilized for syntheses of essential cellular compounds such as nucleic acids, proteins, polysaccharides, and lipids.
