Title: Optical storage performance modeling and evaluation
Abstract: Optical disk and optical tape offer very high data storage capacity for a low-cost-per-megabyte compared with other online storage devices. This technology is being applied to a variety of applications in the data and image processing arena for different industries. They are banking, insurance, healthcare, and a wide range of engineering applications such as document management and engineering drawing management. This paper evaluates different storage media for long-term archival of large amounts of data for any of the above applications. The cost effectiveness and performance of different storage media is evaluated for three different models based on document storage requirements
