Abstract: Integration in the European Union is one of the priorities of economic policy of Georgia. Therefore, the study of historical aspects of European integration is of great importance. The paper discusses historical issues of European integration. In the beginning of the 21st century the European Union represents one of the most developed regional integration with its trade, economic and political potential.
Preconditions and challenges of European integration, its member states, Eurozone and others are discussed. Positive outcomes of economic integration for both member and non-member states are emphasized. It’s outlined that the EU is committed to the activities promoting peace, stability and welfare in Europe and in the whole world. Its role on international arena is very important. The EU and Georgia have close and increasing trade and economic relations, which need to deepen.
