Title: Electromechanical Clamping Device Using Shape Memory Materials
Abstract: The article is devoted to the determination of the design parameters of clamping elements using materials with shape memory. An overview of the shape memory clamping devices is presented; including historical overview and structural clamping elements of power actuators using shape memory materials. The calculation formulas of the clamping device for fixing and unclamping the object of the clamping device in terms of the heating time and cooling time of the nitinol wire are given. The results have shown that such elements can have small dimensions with high power characteristics, which allows them to be effectively used in the design of machine tools. The offered clamping elements are characterized by low energy consumption and can be easily integrated into automated machine tools.
