Abstract: Nowadays, one of the mains problems that Colombia has, it is related with the production of fundamental information for development of the country. The production, conservation, updating and divulgation of cadastral information are some of them. The cadastre is the support of many national projects, between them, we want to emphasize on strengthen of municipalities finances, territorial ordering, socioeconomic stratification, parcel titling and of course inventory of natural resources.However, in the last years the economic resources for the production cadastral information has been dropping, the reason, the serious budget situation that the country has for the increase of its debt, which occasioned that National Government has to prioritize its limited investment resources in other sectors, mainly, in education, social security, basic sanitation, housing and defence national among others, forgotting the cadastre.Therefore, the main purpose of this paper on the one hand it is to share with the academic community the Colombian Cadastral Model, as an example, of important cadastral activity which provide physical, legal, economical, fiscal and environmental information of the territory, including their coverage problems; and on the other hand, it is to show some recommendations based on the research made, in order to in the future the Government take into account to the cadastral information production, as a priority for the sustainable development of our country. Unfortunately, today we have big problems with the information, mainly in rural zones.
