Title: Geometric and Kinematic Behavior of Machine Tools
Abstract: The geometric dimensional deviations of workpieces made on machining, forming and chip-removing machine tools depend on the following influencing factors: Deviations from the reference tool geometry (manufacturing defects for molding tools), Deviations caused by the technology (such as wear and built-up edges in machining processes; and gap deviations for electrical discharge and electrochemical machining), Elastic deformations of tools, workpieces, fixtures and clamping elements, Deviations of machine feed motions from the relative motions specified (contour/position) between tool (or tool holder) and workpiece (or workpiece carrier), including the deformation of the machine structure caused by the load and deviations from the linear or rotatory main motion of the process (turning of milling spindle, press ram, etc.).
