Even with good corrosion resistance, a brass alloy with good corrosion resistance properties against marine corrosive properties, especially seawater, is still much needed. This research was conducted to determine the behaviour of the 48Cu-30Zn-18Nb brass alloy in exposure to seawater. An analysis of the corrosion rate, surface roughness, and microstructure of brass before and after exposure to seawater was carried out for immersion duration. The Nb content was expected to strengthen brass alloys' overall corrosion resistance because Nb is known for its extraordinary good corrosion resistance properties. The corrosion rate analysis was carried out to determine the specimen's corrosion resistance while the surface roughness test was done to determine the changes that occur on the specimen surface during the immersion process to ensure this. Then, microstructure testing was performed to determine the type of corrosion that occurred in the specimen.Read More
