Title: Potential of Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Organisms in a Mars like Environment and as Reference System for the Search of Life on other Planets
Abstract: Epilithic and endolithic, prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms on Mars simulation in addition to experiments on space missions will give answers on questions concerning Martian substrate-, radiation- and atmosphere-tolerance. Investigations on these organisms will also reveal interactions between organisms and present geology on Earth and Mars. Probably the rocky substrates may be transformed by the organisms activity. The resulted traces (bio-signatures) on rocks formed by life forms may serve for future rover projects as reference system to search for present or past life on other planets (especially on Mars).
