Title: THE OPPRESSION ANASTASIA’S CHARACTER IN EL JAMES MOVIE“FIFTY SHADES OF GREY” ; PSYCHOANALYSIS STUDY
Abstract: The current study is a psychoanalysis study which aims to investigate psychoanalysis
aspects in El Jame’s movie Fifty Shades of Grey. Starting from common
understanding that psychological aspects can be found in any situation of human’s
life, this study aims to uncover psychological aspects in literature work. Thus, Fifty
Shades of Grey is taken as research object because it has characters which depict
psychological aspects.
Thus, it is applied in this study accompanied by Freudian Psychoanalytic Theory.
Together with Psychoanalytic theory. The result of this study shows that the conflict
and contradiction in human’s psyche is going to cause internal conflicts. This internal
conflicts – if not handled well – then will come out in many different form of actions
or behaviors, such as oppression. The conflicts between major characters (Anna and
Christian) is the result of different perception between them. These differences can be
found in their psychoanalytic models in analysis of their id, ego, and superego. It is
evident that id, ego, and superego struggles differently in each characters. The
struggles between id, ego, and superego cause different perceptions between
characters.
