Abstract: The amount of food waste generation is increasing and continues to climb in the landfill as the waste that is not composted goes directly to the landfill. When the food waste in the landfills breakdown, thus, could release a potent greenhouse gaseous such as methane (CH4) and also create toxic leachate. The ultimate purpose of waste management is to reduce the impact on the environment as well as to human health. Therefore, more efficient waste management strategies are needed to reduce the heavy reliance on landfills. This study presents the previous research by implementing the food waste composting by using an in-vessel system as the end product of composting by using this method is environmentally friendly, economically reasonable and socially acceptable.
