Title: Experiments on weed control in strawberries and nursery plants
Abstract: The strawberry nursery presents many problems of weed control, as it is planted in a fertile soil and must be cultivated for 12/13 months long. In such a long time weeds can grow very rapidly and require many expensive mechanical treatments. The tests carried out during many years gave valid and useful results. The best results were obtained applying trifluralin, dinitramine, trifluralin + lenacil, dinitramine + lenacil, oxadiazon in pre- and in post-transplanting. The above mentioned chemicals are not sufficient to grant a complete control during the whole cultivation time. So, even one or more mechanical treatments are necessary to provide excellent weed control during the cultivation period. We can report similar observations and results about the weed control in many other plants in the nursery and in soft fruit generally.
