Title: Analysis of factors associated with mental health of 1655 ethnic medical students
Abstract: Objective To analyze positive mental health test results and influential factors among ethnic medical students in a medical college,and provide evidence for implement mental health education among ethnic medical students. Methods A study was conducted by using SCL-90 to evaluate ethnic medical students enrolled from 2001 to 2005 in Yunnan Province. Results The positive rate was 25.32% in 1 655 students. Nost symptom was obsessive compulsive and the least was somatization. Linear regression detected the 8 main influential factors of positive results were relationship among students after classes, own professional preferance, family income, family situation in humanities environment, the grade of family residence, resource of maintenance, charactoeristics and habits of students themselves such as status of drinking, abuse of internet and work-study. Conclusion The situation of medical students' mental health is not optimistic, there are different degrees problems. Mental health education, consulting and assistance based on different levels and personal satiation be provided to students by educational departments.
