Title: Petroleum Formation and Occurrence: A New Approach to Oil and Gas Exploration
Abstract: This book is a clearly stated, logical development of petroleum geochemistry with important examples of petroleum geochemical concepts applied to geology. The book begins with a discussion of the organic materials that serve as the precursors for petroleum. Part II considers the generation of petroleum. It emphasizes the role of kerogen in petroleum formation and includes a consideration of coal and its relation to petroleum. Part III is about primary and secondary migration and is more geological than geochemical in content. Part IV considers the composition of petroleum and the influence of geological factors that alter this composition. Part V is a description of an integrated approach to petroleum exploration utilizing the principles of petroleum geochemistry applied to petroleum generation and migration. (DP)
