Title: STUDY OF HYDRAULIC JUMP CHARACTERISTICS IN A LABORATORY OPEN CHANNEL
Abstract: This study investigated the characteristics of hydraulic jump in open channels. Laboratory experiments were performed on a rectangular channel with different discharges, different sluice gate heights, and different weir heights. The measurements of a wide range of water depths and heights along the channel were used to calculate various coefficients of hydraulic jump, and energy loss before and after the hydraulic jump through known hydraulic formulas and equations, and Froude number for each gate height. Similar experiments were carried out on rectangular and other cross sections and the diagrams of these experiments were studied for various magnitudes. The results showed a wide range of Froude numbers, as well as varying energy loss values in each utility measured.
