Title: Freedom of Information: The Experience of the Australian States - An Epiphany?
Abstract: The experience of freedom of information leglisation in various states, including Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia is discussed. Northern Territory, in early 2000, initiated the basics of a political and bureaucratic acceptable access regime in Australia by circulating a discussion paper on Freedom of Information (FOI) that proposed a simple two fold exemption system, namely the completely exempt and the most likely exempt. There are changes leading to important and significant differences, in comparison to the information access available prior to FOI legislation.
