Abstract: Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy among neonates is a significant cause of infant mortality and neurodevelopmental deficits. It is a significant health issue throughout the world. According to recent data, the estimated incidence of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is 1.5 per 1000 live births in developed countries. With severe encephalopathy, mortality is more than sixty percent, and many of the survivors are disabled. A systematic review concluded that therapeutic hypothermia is beneficial in neonates with HIE. As per current guidelines, it is mandatory to offer therapeutic hypothermia to all term neonates with evolving moderate or severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.
