At present, the closed-loop PI control is used for automatic generation control (AGC) in the power network, and the effect of primary frequency modulation on AGC control is not considered, which affects the control effect of AGC. For this reason, a real-time control strategy for AGC based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is presented. The strategy is to analyze and split the regional power deviation over a while by EMD, to separate the high-frequency components that belong to the category of primary frequency modulation, and to compensate only the part that belongs to secondary frequency modulation. The simulation results show that this strategy can effectively reduce the number of AGC orders, improve the control effect of AGC, and maintain the safe and stable operation of the power grid.Read More
