Title: Simulation of quasistatic deformation of polycrystals in terms of dynamics
Abstract: Microstructure-based simulations of deformation processes require substantial computational resources due to the necessity of using detailed meshes with a large number of elements to sufficiently approximate grain boundaries. An explicit dynamic approach to simulate quasistatic processes is shown to substantially reduce computational costs. The conditions under which static and dynamic solutions agree with a high degree of accuracy are examined on the example of titanium polycrystal.
