Students usually try to find answers for problems for which there is no clear solution. Master and doctoral students search for every possible approach to complex legal questions. Professionals may need to look for straightforward but still comprehensive explanations to deal with urgent tasks. This particular book has taken the laudable mission to try to address them all. As its title suggest, this volume by Professor Marco Sassóli (Geneva Academy, University of Geneva) provides an analysis over the rules of IHL and the controversies surrounding it. Notably, it also manages to deliver solutions to these challenges in the process. He does it using a simple and clear language without compromising the depth of his analysis. Each chapter and section starts with an introductory text that synthetizes the most important concepts of each section. The book also provides a user-friendly format, through the use of marginal numbers (MNs) that facilitates a quick search throughout the book. It also includes a useful table of instruments, to look for references over particular instruments and rules.Read More
