Title: Documentology at the Stage of Advanced Science: Essence of the Unit of Documentation Activity and Concepts and Construction of the Fundamental Theoretical Scheme
Abstract: The relevance of the undertaken research is due to the need to optimize the content of the basic terms of the science of documentation and information support activities – DISA (records management, library science, scientific informatics, etc.), establish and deep disclose of the essence of its units, processes and segments. On the basis of the application of methods of terminological analysis, explication, systemic, structural and functional consider the key, from the standpoint of the formation of documentology as a developed science, issues of the essence of the unit of documentary activity and the concept and construction of a fundamental theoretical system. It is emphasized that the development of a fundamental theoretical scheme – the general inter-theory of DISA – corresponds to the presence of advanced theory in documentary studies. Since there is a large proportion of ontological knowledge (knowledge of the essence of the object), the methodological strategy of constructing a theory and systematizing knowledge in documentary studies presupposes following the full-weight concept of the essence of the object. It is substantiated that the binary essence of the DISA unit corresponding to the “wide” interpretation of the document, taking into account the social aspect of its functioning – social status and pragmatic properties – it should be logically supplemented with a functional status entity that will provide the necessary correspondence to the “narrow” interpretation of the document. A ternary entity of the unit DIOD is proposed as a product of material and intellectual production, endowed with social status and performing a complex of functions in social activities.
