Title: Continuing Professional Developent in School Psychology: Current Status
Abstract: It is generally agreed that continuing professional development is a necessary activity for the school psychologist. In this article current patterns and trends in continuing education for school psychologists are identified by looking at the programs developed by the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists, followed by a brief description of the National School Psychology Inservice Training Network project. Factors which influence the need for continuing education in the profession are discussed under two categories. Finally, conclusions are offered regarding the current status of continuing education in school psychology.
