Non-trivial solutions to the gap equations are found indicating that this type of mass generation is a feature of the static sector of finite temperature field theory. In the case of the non-linear sigma model the transverse mass can be defined in a manifestly gauge invariant manner. Its value is determined to be m=0.28g^2.Read More
