Title: Electron Diffraction Study of Chrysotile Asbestos Soaked 10 Years in DD Water and Acid-Treated for up to 5 Days
Abstract: Chrysotile asbestos may enter drinking water from pipe erosion- or be present in the source from rock outcrops. This study was initiated to see what factors distinguish fresh chrysotile from old which has been exposed to water for prolonged times. Concomitantly, we investigated the effect of the exposure of chrysotile to IN HC1 and simulated gastric juices for up to 5 days. This was done to see if such an in-vitro exposure would cause changes in the chrysotile morphology and structure. Another parallel investigation studied in-vivo exposure.
