Title: Issues And Prospects Of Organic Farming In India: An Economic Analysis:
Abstract: Agriculture production has increased overtime in India but at the cost of nature and environment. The green revolution promoted the more and more use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides and other plant protection materials to increase the agricultural production in India. It causes adverse effect on soil fertility, human and animal health and environment sustainability. Organic farming can be a viable option to avoid these effects. The present study explores the issues of organic farming in India with a major focus on key government policies aimed at giving a boost to it. An attempt has also been made to overview the present scenario of organic farming in India. Study concludes that organic farming is one of the important ways to promote sustainable agriculture development and the main issues in organic farming are lack of marketplace for the crop and low yield from the farm. The study is based on the secondary source of data, which have been collected from various sources such as, FiBL, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Government websites etc.
