The arc is shielded by blanket of granular fusible material placed over the welding area. Filler is obtained from the electrode and sometimes a supplementary welding rod . Besides economics consideration, flux consumption influences the pick up or loss of alloying elements, thus governs mechanical and metallurigical properties of weld metal. In the present work the effect of welding parametrs on flux consumption has been invesigated. A measured quantity (1kg) of flux was used for each bead.
